I have been programming for fun since 1982 and turned this passion into a full time job in early 1995. Since then, I have been working in start-ups and consulting for major firms and institutions worldwide.

I am a generalizing specialist with a focus on JVM and Erlang middleware development, enterprise application integration, software architecture and agile practices.

My values are spelled out in the IEEE Code of Ethics, the Manifesto for Software Craftsmanship and the Manifesto for Agile Software Development.

I love open source. I take a lot from the community so I try to give a little back. This is why I lead several open source projects (mainly NxBRE and the JCR and Erlang transports for Mule) and contribute to many others.

I really enjoy writing and am a lucky author for Manning Publications. I have also been a contributing author for O'Reilly, an occasional writer for Dr. Dobb's Journal and late Software Development Magazine.

Finally, I am truly honoured to serve as an official judge for the DDJ's Jolt Product Excellence Awards.
